Script execution via insufficient full_name filtering
Published Jul 28, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in eGain Chat 15.5.5 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a chat user's browser through the Name field. The full_name input accepts an anchor whose encoded javascript scheme bypasses special-character and HTML-attribute filtering, then renders it in a response. Exploitation requires a user to follow the injected link; script execution occurs in the eGain Chat origin and affects browser-visible data and actions.
