CVE-2020-15799Network attack vector

Unauthenticated device reboot via special web URLs

Published Jan 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Missing authentication in Siemens SCALANCE X-200 and X-200IRT firmware allows remote attackers to reboot switches over the network. The integrated web server accepts special URLs that reach reboot functionality without authenticating the requester; Siemens has not disclosed the paths or handler logic. Access to the web server on TCP port 443 is the only stated gate, and a successful request reboots the switch and interrupts service.
