Unauthenticated CPE management via hardcoded XMPP credentials
Published Jun 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Hardcoded credentials in Zyxel CloudCNM SecuManager 3.1.0 and 3.1.1 allow remote attackers to access the XMPP administration service. The /opt/axess/opt/axXMPPHandler/config/xmpp_config.py file embeds the XMPP administrator identifier and password and grants world-read access. The service is exposed on WAN port 5280 by default, and the credentials permit account listing or removal and management of connected CPEs.
