Root SSH access via hardcoded ECDSA key
Published Jun 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use of hard-coded credentials in Zyxel CloudCNM SecuManager 3.1.0 and 3.1.1 allows remote attackers to access the root account via SSH. The /opt/axess chroot directory contains a reusable ECDSA private key associated with root, so possession of the key supplies authentication material rather than exploiting a memory-safety flaw. Exposure requires network reachability to the SSH service and permits root-level confidentiality and integrity impact on the SecuManager host.
