Administrator account creation via tokenless cross-origin POST
Published Jun 24, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
CSRF in the Supermicro X10DRH-iT web interface with BIOS 2.0a and IPMI firmware 03.40 allows remote attackers to add admin users. The config_user.cgi endpoint processes a forged cross-origin POST containing credentials and new_privilege=4 without an anti-CSRF value. A victim with an active IPMI session must load attacker-controlled HTML, after which the browser creates a new administrator account.
