Private-file disclosure via incorrect cache headers
Published Jun 24, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in affected MediaWiki releases allows remote attackers to read private files from a shared cache without authorization. The img_auth.php response path mishandles Cache-Control and Vary headers, allowing a caching server to store protected extension images as public content. Exposure requires an affected release, a private wiki behind a caching server, and the img_auth.php image-authorization feature.
