Traffic disclosure via missing certificate validation
Published Jun 22, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper certificate validation in ThreatTrack VIPRE Password Vault 1.100.1090 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read vault traffic. The app accepts a TLS server certificate without validating its trust, but the public disclosure does not identify the responsible code path. An attacker must control the network path to impersonate the service; the documented impact is disclosure of data carried by the connection.
