Unauthorized primary-email change via missing ownership check
Published Jun 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper authorization in Gogs 0.11.91 allows remote authenticated users to change another account’s primary email via web settings. MakeEmailPrimary accepts an email record by ID but, before the fix, does not verify that its UID matches the requesting user, allowing a user to promote another user’s verified address. The attacker needs an authenticated account and can alter account email state, with no documented confidentiality or availability impact.
