Account takeover via exposed password-reset tokens
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in BT CTROMS Terminal OS Port Portal CT-464 allows remote attackers to take over an account through password reset. The getverificationcode.jsp handler returns the server-generated verification code and password-reset cookie values in its unauthenticated HTTP response instead of confining the code to the registered phone. A valid username is required; the exposed code or cookie values let the attacker set a new password for that account.
