Unauthorized web API access via origin-policy bypass
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Origin validation failure in Mattermost Desktop App before 4.4.0 allows remote attackers to access web APIs across origin boundaries. The desktop client's web API access-control logic mishandles Same Origin Policy checks, so an untrusted origin receives access intended for a trusted origin. No authentication or user interaction is required; public sources do not identify the individual API endpoints or precise operations exposed.
