Remote command execution via shell metacharacters
Published Jun 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NeDi 1.9C remote command execution allows remote attackers to run system commands via a crafted POST request to pwsec.php. The pwsec.php handler improperly escapes shell metacharacters in the POST pw parameter, allowing shell syntax to reach command execution. A remote attacker can submit the payload directly or induce a logged-in user to submit it through cross-site request forgery, resulting in arbitrary command execution on the NeDi server.
