Unauthenticated denial of service via misaligned access
Published Jun 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
LibVNCServer before 0.9.13 allows remote attackers to interrupt service through malformed protocol data. The libvncclient/rfbproto.c parser accesses byte-aligned input through uint32_t pointers, which can trigger a fault on platforms requiring aligned memory access. The CVE record disputes whether a trust boundary is crossed, so impact is limited to availability disruption in reachable client sessions.
