Unauthenticated server crash via unchecked region spans
Published Jun 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in LibVNCServer before 0.9.13 allows remote attackers to crash a VNC server through crafted network input. The sraSpanInsertAfter, sraSpanInsertBefore, and sraSpanRemove helpers dereference span arguments without first checking for NULL. Network access without authentication reaches the affected server path, and successful exploitation interrupts only that service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
