Remote code execution via unblocked JNDI gadget
Published Jun 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unsafe deserialization in FasterXML Jackson Databind 2.9.0 through 2.9.10.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. SubTypeValidator does not reject org.jsecurity.realm.jndi.JndiRealmFactory as a polymorphic type, causing crafted input to instantiate the JNDI gadget. Reachability requires an application to deserialize attacker-controlled polymorphic data while the org.jsecurity library is present.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
