Authenticated command execution via log-email parameter injection
Published Jun 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in TRENDnet TEW-827DRU firmware through 2.06B04 allows remote authenticated users to run arbitrary commands. The apply.cgi send_log_email action incorporates auth_acname or auth_passwd input into an OS command without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Router management credentials are required; successful exploitation permits commands that can read or alter device data or interrupt service.
