Authenticated security-email tampering via unsanitized global templates
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper input validation in Strapi before 3.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to alter password-reset and account-confirmation emails. The application stores request-supplied email templates in a global variable without sanitizing the submitted content. An authenticated account able to send the crafted update request can replace both security-email templates, compromising message integrity for later recipients.
