Local privilege escalation via unquoted uninstall path
Published Jun 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Citrix Workspace App before 1912 for Windows allows local users to obtain SYSTEM during uninstallation. The unquoted uninstall command resolves a user-writable C:\ProgramData\Citrix\citrix.exe before the intended executable and runs it elevated. Exploitation requires a local user to plant that file and wait for an administrator or software distribution process to uninstall the application.
