Comment deletion via unguarded trash action
Published Jun 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
CSRF in Verbb Comments before 1.5.5 for Craft CMS allows remote attackers to trash comments through a forged request. CommentsController::actionTrash processed a comment-trash request without first requiring a POST request, so a cross-site request could invoke the destructive action. Exploitation requires user interaction by a victim whose browser carries authority to trash the targeted comment, and the bounded consequence is deletion of that comment.
