Privilege escalation via current-directory DLL loading
Published Jun 4, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Untrusted DLL search in Foxit Studio Photo before 3.6.6.922 allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted library. The 3.6.6.916 executable loads a DLL from its current working directory without restricting the search to a trusted path. Exploitation requires the executable to be launched from an attacker-influenced directory and runs the planted DLL with the executable's privileges.
