Data disclosure via unrestricted external entity resolution
Published Jun 4, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
XXE in PgSQLXML in PostgreSQL JDBC Driver before 42.2.13 allows attackers to read local files through crafted stored XML. PgSQLXML passes stored XML to default DOM, SAX, StAX, and transformer factories without disabling DTDs or external entity resolution. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled XML to be stored and processed through PgSQLXML; entity resolution can disclose files, issue server-side requests, or exhaust resources.
