Script injection via CKEditor image captions
Published Feb 11, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Drupal core before 8.8.10, 8.9.6, and 9.0.6 allows remote attackers to inject script through CKEditor image captions. The caption handler renders HTML-encoded script supplied in an image's data-caption attribute as active browser markup. Exploitation requires victim interaction with the crafted editor content, after which the script runs in the site's origin and can access or alter browser-session data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
