Stored XSS via unescaped File Picker profile name
Published May 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in CMS Made Simple 2.2.14 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via a File Picker profile name. The File Picker profile form stores the Name value and renders it in its page template without escaping, allowing an injected SVG event handler to run when the page is revisited. Exploitation requires a high-privilege Admin Console account and a victim to view the File Picker page; script execution can read or alter data available to that browser session.
