Denial of service in SQLite before 3.32.0 allows attackers to hang an embedding process through a malicious ALTER TABLE statement. The ALTER TABLE rename path in alter.c and build.c accepts a virtual table’s own shadow-table name, leaving SQLite in an infinite loop. Exploitation requires the ability to execute arbitrary SQL against a virtual table, a condition that typically depends on a separate SQL injection flaw; the affected process then consumes CPU without completing.
