Incorrect FTS3 snippet output via use-after-free
Published May 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in SQLite before 3.32.0 allows attackers to obtain incorrect FTS3 snippet() output through crafted SQL expressions. During a full-text query, fts3SnippetAdvance uses a SegReader object after sqlite3Fts3SegReaderFree releases it. Reachability requires control of SQL expressions that invoke snippet() on FTS3 tables; SQLite reports no known data exfiltration or crash.
