Out-of-bounds read via malformed DNS response
Published May 24, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Zephyr RTOS 1.14.2 and 2.3.0 allows remote attackers to read past a DNS message buffer via a malformed response. The DNS parser accepts an offset equal to the message size and later trusts an oversized RDLENGTH when dns_read() copies address bytes. No credentials or user interaction are required; the vendor associates the resulting memory access with remote code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
