Authenticated file disclosure via dashboardTree path traversal
Published Feb 17, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA 9.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to read local files through an HTTP request. The dashboardTree API passes the fileName parameter through insufficient path restrictions, allowing encoded parent-directory segments to select files outside the intended location. A valid web session is required, and successful requests disclose readable host files, including the documented PostgreSQL password file.
