CVE-2020-13539

Privilege escalation via writable Mobile Runtime executable

Published Jan 5, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Incorrect default permissions in SmartSights WIN-911 Enterprise 4.20.13 allow local users to execute code as the service account. The installer grants Everyone full control over WIN911.Notifier.Mobile.Runtime.exe, which the Mobile Runtime service executes with its service account privileges. Any local user in Everyone can replace the executable; privilege elevation occurs when the service launches the substituted binary.
