Stored XSS via unescaped forum descriptions
Published May 26, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in the forum-creation interface of bbPress 2.6.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript. The admin-area forums list table renders a saved forum description as raw HTML instead of escaping and excerpting it. An Administrator or Editor with unfiltered_html must save the payload, which executes for users viewing the forum listing in WordPress Admin.
