Privilege escalation via insufficient OpenSSL parameter filtering
Published May 22, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in Aviatrix VPN Client before 2.10.7 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted OpenSSL parameters. The incomplete filter accepts dangerous OpenSSL options that direct the client to load an unauthorized third-party library. Exploitation requires an altered parameter set to reach the client; the library then runs with the VPN client's elevated privileges.
