Authenticated file read and write via path traversal
Published May 12, 2023 · Updated Jan 24, 2025
Path traversal in Loadbalancer.org Enterprise VA MAX 8.3.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read and write sensitive files. The /lbadmin/ajax/js_dispatcher.php waf_log handler accepts traversal sequences in waf_filename and uses the value to select files outside the intended log directory. Low-privileged web-services access is sufficient; a crafted GET request can disclose or overwrite arbitrary appliance files.
