CVE-2020-13361

Host process crash via malicious audio frame count

Published May 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Out-of-bounds access in QEMU 5.0.0 and earlier allows guest OS users to crash the host QEMU process via a malicious ES1370 frame count. es1370_transfer_audio accepts a total frame count smaller than the processed count and uses their subtraction in transfer calculations, producing an out-of-bounds access. Exploitation requires a guest user or process able to program the emulated ES1370 device and interrupts that virtual machine's QEMU process.
