CVE-2020-13274Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated DoS via unbounded artifact decompression

Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Resource consumption in GitLab before 12.9.8, 12.10.7, and 13.0.1 allows remote attackers to cause denial of service via malicious artifact uploads. GitLab's GzipStream artifact adapter decompresses attacker-controlled gzip data with an unrestricted read, buffering the expanded content in memory until workers or web processes are OOM-killed. The attack requires no authentication but does require an uploadable artifact or report and can make CI background jobs and API service unavailable.
