Unauthenticated code execution via password parameter injection
Published May 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in Netsweeper WebAdmin 6.4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code without authentication. The unixlogin.php endpoint passes the client-controlled password to service.sh, whose authcheck action embeds it inside a Python -c string without neutralizing quotes or other metacharacters. A crafted Referer matching an allowlisted path and nonempty parameters reach the endpoint, and the injected Python runs operating-system commands as root.
