Password changes via unprotected user-edit request
Published Jun 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in NukeViet 4.4 allows remote attackers to change a user's password through the administrative user-edit endpoint. The modules/users/admin/edit.php handler accepts cross-origin password fields through the edit operation without an antiforgery check and does not require the account's old password. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to load attacker-controlled content, after which the selected user account password is replaced.
