Code execution via crafted cabinet file
Published Jun 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in Microsoft Windows allows attackers to execute code when a user opens or installs a crafted cabinet file. Windows mishandles untrusted cabinet-file content during opening or driver installation; Microsoft has not published the affected parser or faulty operation. Exploitation requires user interaction, either opening the file or accepting a spoofed network printer's malicious driver package, after which attacker-controlled code runs with the invoking process's privileges.
