Shared-account access via exposed deterministic credentials
Published Jun 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper authentication in Pydio Cells 2.0.4 allows remote attackers with a public share link to access a hidden shared-user account. The public-link response exposes the hidden account's random username, while client-side JavaScript derives its password by appending a fixed string to that username. A valid public link created by an authenticated sharing user is required; the recovered account can log in normally, comment on the shared file, and set a profile image.
