Remote code execution via OLE Variant overflow
Published Jun 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in Microsoft Windows OLE allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted file or program. An integer overflow during OLE Variant processing produces an out-of-bounds write while attacker-controlled input is validated. A user must open the content from a webpage or email, and resulting code runs in that user's security context.
