Credential disclosure via encoded Twig template injection
Published May 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Server-side template injection in SEOmatic before 3.2.49 allows remote attackers to disclose Craft CMS database credentials through a crafted URL. DynamicMeta::sanitizeUrl strips tags before URL-decoding, so percent-encoded Twig expression tags after a semicolon survive filtering and are rendered into the response. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation reads configuration values, including the database username and password.
