Unauthenticated code execution via crafted email attachments
Published Jun 23, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Command injection in Openfind MailGates and MailAudit 5.0 allows remote attackers to execute malicious code through a crafted email attachment. The mail-processing path passes attacker-controlled special characters from received email into a system command, triggering code embedded in the attachment. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation grants unauthorized system-file access and can compromise the gateway.
