Password exposure via unconditional KWallet caching
Published May 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information exposure in KDE kio-extras 20.04.0 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to read FISH passwords from KWallet. fishProtocol::establishConnection in fish/fish.cpp calls cacheAuthentication even when keepPassword is unset, disregarding the cleared Remember option. The condition requires password authentication over fish://, and disclosure requires access to the user's stored wallet through KWalletManager.
