Remote code execution via malformed JPEG decoding
Published May 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in the Quram JPEG decoder on Samsung Android 8.x through 10.0 devices allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. During JPEG decoding, the codec fails to validate crafted input before a memory write, permitting data outside the intended buffer to be overwritten. Exploitation requires a device to process a crafted JPEG and grants code execution in the decoder's security context.
