Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in CipherMail Gateway and Webmail Messenger allows remote authenticated users with administrative access to gain Unix root access. The web console writes unsafe Postfix main.cf settings that run during reload and restores modified SQL backups without additional system authentication. The issue affects Gateway 1.0.1 through 4.7.1-0 and Webmail Messenger 1.1.1 through 3.1.1-0; a ROLE_ADMIN session is required.
