Remote code execution via unescaped image-tool paths
Published May 4, 2020 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
OS command injection in Roundcube Webmail before 1.4.4 allows remote attackers to execute commands through crafted image-tool settings. rcube_image.php passes im_convert_path or im_identify_path into rcube::exec without escaping shell metacharacters, so a stored setting becomes executable command text. Exploitation requires public access to the installer and triggers when a user opens a message containing an image that invokes conversion.
