Code execution via unsanitized plugin pathname
Published May 4, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal in Roundcube Webmail before 1.4.4 allows remote attackers to include local PHP files and execute code through its installer. The rcube_plugin_api load_plugin() and get_info() paths use an unfiltered plugin name twice to construct and include a PHP pathname outside the plugins directory. Exploitation requires public installer access and a PHP file at a known local path; successful inclusion executes that file in the webmail process.
