User-assisted code execution via mishandled graphics objects
Published Jun 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory corruption in Microsoft Windows GDI allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted webpage or document. GDI mishandles in-memory graphics objects supplied by attacker-controlled content, but Microsoft has not disclosed the specific parser or invalid memory operation. Exploitation requires a user to visit the webpage or open the document and runs code with that user's rights, permitting system takeover when the user is an administrator.
