Authenticated arbitrary file deletion via unsafe subpages deserialization
Published Apr 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
PHP object injection in Subrion CMS 4.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary server files. The blocks/edit handler passes the block's attacker-controlled serialized subpages value to PHP deserialization in admin/blocks.php, permitting an injected object's deletion behavior to run. A valid account with access to block editing is required, and the demonstrated consequence is file deletion rather than disclosed code execution.
