Privilege escalation in Splashtop Software Updater before 1.5.6.16 allows local users to execute code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The updater exposes its configuration file and named pipe with permissions that let a local user force permission changes on Splashtop files and directories, enabling malicious DLL replacement. Local low-privileged access is required; successful exploitation grants SYSTEM-level control over affected Windows hosts.
