Authenticated script execution via unescaped error messages
Published Apr 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Opmantek Open-AudIT 3.3.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted search URL. The default CodeIgniter error templates render the error $message without HTML entity encoding; a crafted search-path segment reaches that output. Exploitation requires a logged-in user to open the crafted URL, after which attacker-supplied script runs in that user's browser and can read or alter data available to the session.
