Remote code execution via HTML/XML table use-after-free
Published Jun 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Remote code execution in Microsoft Excel 2010 SP2 through 2016 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted XLS files. Excel's HTML/XML Table parser frees an object referenced by malformed table markup and then reuses it, enabling code execution. Exploitation requires a victim to open the malicious file, and code runs in the current user's context.
