Remote code execution via VBScript memory corruption
Published Jun 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory corruption in Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 and 11 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted VBScript web content. Microsoft has not published the specific object-lifetime or bounds operation that corrupts memory while the engine processes untrusted script. Exploitation requires a user to open attacker-controlled content, and successful code runs with the current user's rights.
